Argument from ignorance
Note that an argument from ignorance is different from an argument that shows the ignorance of the person making it (referring to your edit of Appeal to emotion). It's an attempt to support or refute a claim by pointing out a lack of knowledge or understanding about it (e.g., "We don't know how life first arose, therefore God did it", or "All this time since Darwin and we still don't know how life arose in the first place, so how can you believe in evolution?") - dcljr 17:20, 20 November 2008 (CST)
