Heart
Pointing out that emotions don't literally come from the heart isn't necessary for disputing this argument. For the longest time, stating "I love you with all my heart" has just been a figure of speach. The general population understands emotions aren't generated by one's heart muscle, so stating aren't they silly for saying let God into your heart instead of your brain is just going to seem like nit picking. --Reklawrnnr
- Indeed. The heart is an obvious metaphor for sincere belief.
- The only problem with it is that people who invoke it often view their own sincere beliefs as a reflection of reality ("knowledge"), whilst dismissing the equally invalid sincere beliefs of others. That is what should be addressed.
