Samaritanism is an Abrahamic religion founded in the Middle East by the Samaritans. Originating around 720 BCE, in modern times it has only about 800 believers.
Samaritan beliefs are very similar to the religious beliefs found in Judaism They believe in one God who is named YHWH. They also believe that the Torah was given by God to Moses. Samaritans believe that Mount Gerizim, not Jerusalem, is the one true sanctuary chosen by Israel's God, which differs from the Jewish faith.
Good Samaritan in Christianity
Interestingly, a Samaritan foreigner is used as a role model for Christians in the parable of the good Samaritan Luke 10:29–37 , illustrating that Christians must not just care for friends, family and other Christians.
