Melchizedek priesthood

The Melchizedek priesthood is the "higher" priesthood claimed by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is named for Melchizedek, a contemporary of Abraham, who was king of Salem and called "priest of God Most High" (Genesis 16:18 
).
