Magic is more or less synonymous with the supernatural, referring to phenomena outside the range of natural explanation (although scientific and/or statistical analysis can provide evidence against magical claims).
Science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke famously stated that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" (Profiles of the Future, 1973 revision).
