Madalyn Murray O'Hair (April 13, 1919 – September 29, 1995) was the founder of American Atheists. O'Hair played a vital role in the landmark Supreme Court case Murray v. Curlett that ruled school-sponsored prayer and Bible reading unconstitutional.
