In order to protect a page from vandalism and other kinds of undesirable edits, the MediaWiki software provides two possible remedies (apart from page reversion, after the fact):
- Protection: Limiting editing of a page to administrators only.
- Semi-protection: Limiting editing of a page to registered users only.
Currently the entire Iron Chariots wiki is semi-protected. The exact policies under which full protection can or should be applied to, or removed from, a page (actions which can only be performed by administrators) have not been worked out yet.
