Genetic fallacy

Genetic fallacy is a logical fallacy that makes an assumption of a statement being fallacious based on its source. It is a fallacy of irrelevance.

Example

• Chemistry is an outgrowth of alchemy, which is an unscientific mystical endeavor. Therefore chemistry is not scientific.
