In Gen 1 God simply makes Adam and Eve in his own image quite cool really, no fuss, "poof!" we have man, in Gen 2, there is a big carry on with dirt and ribs and stuff, I guess Gen 1 just did not make woman inferior to man enough. | In Gen 1 God simply makes Adam and Eve in his own image quite cool really, no fuss, "poof!" we have man, in Gen 2, there is a big carry on with dirt and ribs and stuff, I guess Gen 1 just did not make woman inferior to man enough. |

Genesis is the first book of the part of the Bible Christians call the Old Testament and Jews call the Tanakh. It is likely the most well known book of the Old Testament, although its length makes it one of the more difficult books to read all the way through.
Bible Stories from Genesis
Genesis includes some of the best-known Bible stories, including:
- The two creation stories (the seven days of creation, Adam and Eve)
- Cain and Abel
- The flood and Noah's ark
- The tower of Babel
- The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah
- Abraham told to sacrifice his son Isaac
- Jacob sold into slavery by his brothers
- Jacob interprets the pharaoh's dreams
The Jewish creation myth at the beginning of the book is used as the basis for creationism.
Gen 1 and 2
These really do need to be discussed together as they are the creation of the Heaven and Earth. It is clearly two stories combined. Gen 2 almost completely disregards the events of Gen 1.
Gen 2:19 "And out of the ground Jehovah God formed every beast of the field, and every bird of the heavens; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them: and whatsoever the man called every living creature, that was the name thereof."
This of course contradicts Gen 1:30 "and to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the heavens, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, [I have given] every green herb for food: and it was so. "
In Gen 1 God simply makes Adam and Eve in his own image quite cool really, no fuss, "poof!" we have man, in Gen 2, there is a big carry on with dirt and ribs and stuff, I guess Gen 1 just did not make woman inferior to man enough.
There are more contradictions in both chapters, and things that make no sense, for example: light before the sun and the stars. And a really big puzzle, where did God live before he created heaven?
Gen 3
The Snake
In Genesis there is no mention of the snake being Satan, maybe in other books this occurs, but in Genesis he is just a talking snake.
