The format is not well suited for images containing regions of uniform color, such as "cartoon-like" drawings and illustrations, icons, logos, etc.

To tag a non-JPEG image as one that would be better uploaded as a JPEG, add the template reference {{to JPEG}} to the image page, which places the image in Category:Images for conversion to JPEG format.
