Blinding with science is to make a complicated argument that sounds impressive but has no hope of being understood by an audience.
- "The pious Euler advanced upon the atheistic Diderot and, in tones of the utmost conviction, delivered his challenge: 'Monsieur, (a + b n )/n = x, therefore God exists. Reply!' Diderot was cowed into withdrawal, and one version of the story has him withdrawing all the way back to France."
