Bart D. Ehrman is a New Testament scholar and Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has written many popular books on textual criticism and other Biblical matters, including:

  • Jesus: Apocalyptic Prophet of the New Millennium (1999)
  • The New Testament: A Historical Introduction to the Early Christian Writings (2003)
  • Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why (2005)

  • Lost Christianities: The Battles for Scripture and the Faiths We Never Knew (2003)
  • Jesus, Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (And Why We Don't Know About Them) (2009)

Ehrman became an Evangelical Christian as a teen but lost his faith after careful study of the Bible itself. He now identifies himself an agnostic.[1]
