  • The New Testament: A Historical Introduction to the Early Christian Writings (2003)
  • Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why (2005)
  • God's Problem: How the Bible Fails to Answer Our Most Important Question—Why We Suffer (2008)
  • Lost Christianities: The Battles for Scripture and the Faiths We Never Knew (2003)

Ehrman became an Evangelical Christian as a teen but lost his faith after careful study of the Bible itself. He now identifies himself an agnostic.[1]

Reaction

"When you read Bart Ehrman, be sure to get a Bible that has margin notes or foot notes, so that you can confirm what he is describing is in the Bible. If you can find a Bible with translator notes, they will confirm what he is saying, because a lot of people of trashed Ehrman's reputation because he has come out publicly to say what Bible scholars have known for a hundred years.[2]"
