The second part of the Book of Samuel (also called 2 Samuel, pronounced Second Samuel) is the tenth book of the Old Testament. It describes how David becomes king, his further military exploits, his murder-by-proxy of Uriah in order to steal his wife (and the subsequent murder of the child by God as punishment), the rebellion of David's son Absalom, and David's census (which God punishes by killing seventy thousand Israelites).
